Police Academy Cadets Awarded Tour of LASD Special Forces Unit

CEO Michael Deitch and president Dr. Ozlum Equils of the MiOra Foundation join LAPD Officer Joel Frias, LASPD Officer George Flores, and Police Academy Magnet Coordinator Paul Graber in presenting Certificates of Honor to outstanding Police Academy cadets, Jocelyn Nunez and Fabian Ruiz. Each of the cadets will receive a tour of the LASD Special Forces Tactical Unit.

JMHS Police Academy Holds its 21st Annual Formal Inspection

LAPD Deputy Chief of Police Robert Green along with LASPD Chief of Police Steven Zipperman helped conduct the 21st annual JMHS Police Academy Formal Inspection. Deputy Chief Green and Chief Zipperman were joined by LAUSD Board Member Scott Schmerelson and the LAUSD Director of the Office of Student Integration Mr. Keith Abrahams.

Monroe's Police Academy Magnet Captures its 2nd Consecutive Bench Press Championship

Congratulations to the James Monroe High School Police Academy Magnet Students who took first place for a second straight year against San Pedro, Wilson and Reseda High Schools in the annual Police Academy Bench Press Competition. Their hard work and practice paid off. Individual division winners include, Diane Diaz, Giovannni Garcia, Ana Ruiz, Anna Ruiz, Airyanna Smith and Jacob Schneider. Congratulations to them, and all the other team members who brought the trophy back to Monroe.

8 Magnet Students Named to the Mayor's Youth Council

8 Law and Government and Police Academy students were named to the L.A. Mayor's Youth Council for the 2016-2017 school year. Mireille Becerra, Angela Jimenez Pinto, Hipolito Vasquez, Amy Quintanilla, Luis Maya, Ashley Castillo, Angel De Pacina, and Jienel Valenzuela.

Police Academy Senior HIPOLITO VAZQUEZ Awarded Questbridge Scholarship!

The Questbridge National College Match offers one of the most selective scholarships in the country. It includes full tuition, room and board, books, and travel expenses. This year only 767 seniors across the nation were awarded this scholarship, valued at $260,000.Our very own Hipolito Vazquez is one of these seniors. He received a Questbridge Scholarship to the #1 ranked Liberal Arts college in the country, Williams College, in Massachusetts. A great big Viking congratulations to Police Academy's Hipolito!

Over $2,000,000 in Scholarships Awarded to Class of 2017!

Monroe's Magnet students were awarded over 2 million dollars in scholarships. Our 2017 graduating seniors are now attending UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, as well as Smith College, Wellesley College, Middlebury College, Dickinson College, and Duke University.
We currently have 18 enrolled students in the top 20 colleges and universities in the country, according to US News and World Reports College Rankings.
